On March 20, 2025, we had the pleasure of taking part in the 17th edition of the Junior Scientist and Industry Annual Meeting (JSIAM), at the Maison Minatec in Grenoble. Organized by the GIANT innovation campus, this not-to-be-missed scientific event brought together over 180 PhD students and some 40 professionals from industry, consulting and startups.
A day rich in exchanges to bring technological research closer to industry
The JSIAM is part of a strong initiative to build bridges between young researchers and economic players. It's a unique opportunity to enhance the skills of doctoral and post-doctoral students, while enabling them to better understand the expectations of recruiters in industrial, technological or entrepreneurial fields.
As participants, we took full advantage of this environment conducive to networking, inspiration and professional development.
AI and recruitment: an outstanding opening conference
The event began with an inspiring keynote on AI in recruitment processes, led by Damien Gosseries, founder of Dreamin’Job. He shared insightful perspectives on the growing role of artificial intelligence in the job search process: CV writing, application screening, AI-assisted cover letters, and automated sourcing strategies.
High points for getting to know each other and exchanging ideas
Throughout the day, the event featured a number of highlights:
- Personalized CV coaching, to learn how to add value to your research career.
- Speed-meeting sessions, offering PhD students direct contact with professionals from different sectors.
- A business stand area, new for this year's event, to encourage informal exchanges with local and national business players.
