Join us for an internship! CEA Tech As an intern at CEA, you will have the opportunity to work in a world-renowned research environment. Our teams are made up of passionate and dedicated experts, providing a framework conducive to learning and collaboration. You will have access to state-of-the-art equipment and first-rate research resources to carry out your assignments. YOUR DUTIES: During this internship, the student will explore two complementary research directions for object recognition and classification based on electomagnetic backscattering. The first part of the work will focus on pushing the limits of our in-house electro-magnetic tool for multi-static sensing configurations. The candidate will investigate how well it can handle complex scenarios involving multi-dielectric objects compare its results against full-wave simulation benchmarks. A particular effort will also be dedicated to integrating realistic 3D object models (such as STL or voxel representations) into the simulation workflow. The second part of the internship will emphasize automation and large-scale evaluation. The student will design and implement scripts to run batch simulations, systematically varying object shape, orientation, and frequency to analyse their impact on the backscattered response. The resulting datasets will then serve as the foundation for advanced AI/ML-based classification methods, opening the door to robust and efficient object recognition capabilities.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the crossroads of electromagnetics, numerical simulations, and artificial intelligence, contributing to the development of next-generation intelligent sensing and recognition systems. The intern will join the Antenna & Propagation Laboratory at CEA-LETI, Grenoble (France), a world-class research environment equipped with state-of-the-art tools for propagation channel characterization and modelling.

What do we expect from you? We are looking for a motivated student (Master’s level student) who enjoys both theory and practice. •Solid knowledge of electromagnetic fundamentals •Strong programming skills in Matlab and/or Python •Interest or experience in AI/ML for classification •Curious, creative, and enthusiastic about research challenges •Motivation to pursue a PhD in the same field The application should include CV, cover letter, and transcript of records. We offer: An internship in the heart of the Grenoble metropolitan area, easily accessible via the CEA's soft mobility program. A unique research environment dedicated to topics with high societal impact. Experience in a cutting-edge field of innovation with strong industrial development potential. Training to strengthen your skills or acquire new ones in embedded electronics, information technology, telecommunications, and/or cybersecurity. In accordance with the CEA's commitments to the integration of people with disabilities, this job is open to everyone. The CEA offers accommodations and/or organizational possibilities for the inclusion of workers with disabilities.
